Bilthoven

The biggest part of the command of the coastdefence of the Netherlands was in hands of the 88e Armycorps. The headquarters of the 88e Armycorps was situated until the summer of 1943 in Utrecht. Due to heavy bombing of this headquarter General Reinhard (of the 88e Armycorps) desided that the headquarter should be moved to a safe place. The new place of the headquarter was Bilthoven, the place with lots of wood and villa's. The northern part of Bilthoven was a part with lots of threes, on this location the Germans build a SK Commandobunker. The size of the bunker was as follow: length 32.6 mtr en weith 13 meter. The officers removed to the villa's in the surrounding of the bunker. In the area lots of other light constructions were build. Most of the bunkers remain today between the villa's and in backyards. Also the SK Commandobunker lays invisible in the backyard of a house.
